MMI Textiles is committed to environmental sustainability and human health. In response to growing concerns and regulatory changes regarding PFAS, we are actively transitioning away from PFAS-containing C6 DWR finishes and actively exploring alternative, fluorine-free "C-Zero" DWR technologies. These alternatives offer effective water repellency without the harmful environmental impact of PFAS. While C-Zero finishes may not yet match the durability or oil repellency of C6 products, they are rapidly evolving, promising increasingly effective and sustainable solutions.

We understand the importance of providing our customers with the best possible options. As an alternative to C6, we are happy to offer C-Zero finishes upon request to provide water repellency while minimizing environmental impact.

WHAT ARE PFAS?

PFAS, or per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances, are a group of human-made chemicals used in various industries since the 1940s. Known for their water, oil, and grease-repellent properties, PFAS are found in products like non-stick cookware, water-repellent clothing, stain-resistant fabrics, and firefighting foams.

These chemicals are often called "forever chemicals" because they do not break down easily in the environment and can accumulate over time in the human body and wildlife. Exposure to certain PFAS has been linked to health issues such as changes in cholesterol levels, developmental effects in children, decreased fertility, and an increased risk of certain cancers.
